This week we read about Traditional cinema. Alot of movies target audiences are men, which is part of the reason there is a lot of action movies. From historical war movies like hacksaw ridge to fantasy adventure movies like lord of the rings. Of course, this has of course changed over the passage of time. There is a bigger focus for both genders now and not just on one. In a lot of older films Women are usually portrayed has a pretty figure and love interest to the main character, but now they are treated more than that, given stories of their own. You can also see women has main characters now compared to the past. Of course, with this it allowed women to have a bigger role in filming in general, being able to be nominated for awards and get the recognition they deserve. Not to just be treated has a sexual object for people to drool over.
I feel like this is something that is more important than one might think. Because I feel like it allows you to tell different types of stories then what you would normally see. One such movie I feel like would be alien, The main character is female, and I feel like that adds to the story rather than it just being a guy. It also allows you to play with different types of relationships with the characters rather then just the man protecting the women.
