Week 8-Difference
From Trinh T. Minh-ha's Naked Spaces - Living Is Roun
This week was about Difference. Whether that be between art pieces or from the color of our skin. After all the word Different is able to change the way, we see and interpret people. According to Trinh T. Minh-ha, "Difference: A Third World Women Issue," she states," Words manipulated at will. As you can see, "difference" is essentially "division" in the understanding of many. It is no more than a tool of self-defense and conquest." This is true for a lot of labels; they affect the way you see and interpret items and people. This of course will also affect how you see items made by a person like art. Like the old saying go never judge a book by its cover.

Hey Reiley! Just to be able to give you some more to write about and possibly if you chose this post to come back to, how do you suggest we can avoid division in places where diversity is boasted about but not really completed? Your post did a very generic overview of the reading and to me skipped over two of the most important parts of the reading - women, and then tokenism, and I'd love to see you be able to open up about it more and get your brain juices flowing. Hope it helps!
