Week 12 Positive images
When it comes down to it, whether it's having a positive mental image of oneself, or if it's a positive image of a group, or organization. The more there is positive images the less there is assumed of the group, and the less the small number of bad won't ruin the overall reputation of them. The image above for example is a collage of this artist art pieces with some added to it. The artist said themselves, that they take their emotions and hurt and happiness and turn them into these art pieces. That doing so helps them figure a little bit more about themselves. Having a positive self-image makes even the worst moments able to bloom into a beautiful art piece.
A
positive image is important in every facet of life, not just in art. A
positive image can change the world. From the way you see yourself to even the
way you see others. Having a positive image is important. But just having a
single positive image isn't enough. Has stated in our reading,
according to Jan Zita Grover, she states, "In the case of a
woefully under-, un- or mis-represented subculture, however, the unseemly
behavior of even one member- or one representation - carries a far greater
significance, a much heavier burden." The less positive images there is,
the easier it is for bad assumptions to be made.

The image above was art
done by Enijoi on DeviantArt of loki from the marvel movies. Of course, through
out those movies he is what I would call a antihero, not quote a hero but not a
villain. But that’s in the marvel interpretation. If you look at the mythology version
of him, he is a bad guy. He kills Baldur and causes Ragnarök. His kids end up
killing Odin and Thor. He causes the whole collapse of his realm. But if you don’t
know of the mythology you may not know where the story comes from. That he isn’t
a good person and destroys the world. If you also read the mythology for the
other god’s though they’re not good people either. Odin manipulates and let’s
his fear rule is decision making. Thor is a brute that murdered all the giants
at the orders of his father Odin. But if we look at the marvel story line it
makes their character’s more heroic. All it takes is a positive image to change
a character that would be considered a villain into a hero.
I feel
like putting positive images into your art whether they are of a minority or
not. Of course, you don’t need to make the villain a positive image but try to
be more positive with your character, and art. I believe that should be
something taught in schools. It would bring more positivity to your writing and
art pieces.
